What is United Liberia?

United Liberia is an organization whose mission is to provide independent & accurate news for the Liberian community. We are currently in the process of incorporating and filing for non-profit status. The website, www.unitedliberia.com, is a centralized portal for Liberian-related information. Our search technology searches newspaper, television network, and radio network websites across the internet for news about Liberia and then inserts the headlines into our central index. Content is provided directly to users through the United Liberia website, or webmasters can include a special image on their own website that displays the latest news in a small, customizable box.

The website functions as a central location for the latest information about Liberia. The latest headlines & weather (as well as convienient & direct Google searching) are provided.

Content modules through linking websites:
We also provide content to other websites through our module system. This system allows other websites free access to independent & credible news information via our index.

Why is United Liberia free?

United Liberia receives funding & support from volunteers and users. We will be filing for 501(c)(3) tax exemption in the second quarter of 2005. Information about volunteering or donating to United Liberia is available as well. We do not accept donations from any news sources to ensure that the content we provide is unbiased. The technology that we use to search for news and categorize what we find is propriatary -- we are beginning the patent process for his technology shortly. The content we provide, however, can be used by anyone. For details, see the legal section.

Are the plans to offer more services in the future?

Yes. We are currently developing a method to allow our own independent reporters to write articles on the site and to allow other Liberian content providers (newspapers, community organizations) to write as well. We are also developing a sytem to host free forums/message boards for community organizations as well as community organization home pages. If there is user interest, free e-mail accounts (user@unitedliberia.com) will be made available.
